Foolio’s most popular tracks were ‘Voo Doo,’ ‘Dead Opps Pt.2,’ and ‘I Hate You I Love You.’

He was also known for controversial lyrics about murders involving rival gangs in Jacksonville.

Tributes are pouring in for the rapper following the announcement of his passing.

One fan pens: “Damn bro, prayers to him and his family for real.”

A second says: “Prayers to his family.”

“RIP to him, all my wishes to his loved ones,” a third person writes.

Someone else comments: “RIP legend.”

Foolio had been celebrating his birthday on the night of his passing, according to footage posted on his Instagram.

The 26-year-old took to the social media platform, where he had over one million followers, and shared a video advertising a pool party. He instructed his followers to direct message him for the address, per NBC News.

Later in the evening, the rapper posted that the police had ‘shut us down and kicked us out’ of an Airbnb. The gathering had allegedly gotten too rowdy.

Foolio’s lawyer, Lewis Fusco, wrote in a statement that the rapper had then relocated to a Holiday Inn, where he was reportedly ‘ambushed’ in the car park in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police received reports of a shooting at a hotel in uptown Tampa and upon arrival, found that two vehicles had been shot at in the parking lot.

Fusco said hotel guests were not evacuated but police were on the scene to assist where necessary.

According to the Tampa Police Department, one person was pronounced dead and three additional victims are in stable condition and being treated at the hospital.

The deceased is believed to be Foolio, with police stating his identity is pending confirmation by the medical examiner.

The Tampa Police Department has shared a press release stating the investigation is ongoing, adding: “Police are investigating what led up to the shooting and working to identify those involved.”

Police are urging the public to provide any information or videos that may assist with the investigation.

“If you saw something or heard something any little detail can help us figure out what happened this morning,” Fusco said.

Foolio was previously shot at during incidents in 2023, 2021, and 2020, according to First Coast News.
